Amba

Overview

A Nanai man living in difficult conditions in a remote village on the banks of the Amur River must provide for his small family by fishing. He, his wife, and child have lived according to the long-established local way of life for many years. Few people remain in the village, and there are no prospects for new settlements. Recently, authorities have imposed controls on fishing here, making life even more difficult for the family. However, they have no plans to leave, despite constant calls to abandon their homeland.
