We're Still Here: Voices from the Streets of Newcastle

Overview

In 2024 Shelter North East undertook a piece of research in Newcastle, speaking to 39 individuals who were either currently sleeping rough in Newcastle or had done so within the previous 12 months. On 2 December 2025 we launched a report detailing our findings and providing a set of recommendations for local authorities. As part of the launch we released a short film amplifying the voices of the men and women who participated in our survey. Their experiences of rough sleeping and ideas for solutions are insights that must shape our response. Selected to screen as part of Sunderland Short Film Festival's Local Documentary Shorts Showcase on 13 May 2026.
