Terms of Service

RankHall ("RankHall", "we", "us", or "our") provides a personal ranking service that lets you compare and rank games, movies, and TV shows through head-to-head comparisons and an Elo rating algorithm (the "Service").

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

You must be at least 13 years old to use RankHall. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate and complete.

You can create an account with an email address and password, or by signing in with Google. You are responsible for:

• Keeping your login credentials secure and confidential.
• All activity that occurs under your account.
• Choosing a username and display name that do not impersonate others or infringe anyone's rights.

Please notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised. You can review active sessions and change your password at any time from your account settings.

When using RankHall — including reviews, comments, discussions, lists, usernames, and profile content — you agree not to:

• Post content that is unlawful, hateful, harassing, defamatory, obscene, or that infringes someone else's rights.
• Impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation with anyone.
• Upload malware or attempt to disrupt, probe, or breach the security of the Service.
• Access the Service through automated means such as scraping or bots, except as expressly permitted, or place an unreasonable load on our infrastructure.
• Use the Service to send spam or unsolicited promotions.
• Attempt to access accounts, data, or areas you are not authorized to use.

You retain ownership of the content you create on RankHall, such as reviews, comments, lists, rankings, and profile details ("Your Content").

By posting Your Content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, and display it solely to operate and improve the Service. This license ends when you delete Your Content or your account, except for content others have already shared and copies retained in routine backups.

You are responsible for Your Content and confirm you have the rights to post it. We may remove content that violates these Terms or that we reasonably believe is harmful, without prior notice.

RankHall calculates rankings using an Elo-based algorithm for personal entertainment and self-discovery. Ratings and tiers reflect your own choices and are provided for informational purposes only. We may refine the ranking algorithm over time, which can change previously calculated scores.

Information about games is provided by IGDB, and information about movies and TV shows is provided by TMDB. RankHall uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. All third-party trademarks, cover art, and media metadata belong to their respective owners.

The Service integrates with or links to third-party services, including Google for optional sign-in and Discord for our community. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies, which we do not control.

The RankHall name, logo, design, and software are owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, and revocable license to use the Service for its intended purpose. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any part of the Service except as permitted by law.

RankHall is an independent project offered on a best-effort basis. We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, and we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will meet your expectations or that any content or rankings are accurate.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, RankHall will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars (USD $100).

You agree to indemnify and hold RankHall harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the Service, Your Content, or your violation of these Terms.

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from your settings. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or use the Service in a way that could harm RankHall or other users. Upon termination, the licenses you granted us end, subject to the content-retention exceptions described above.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service will be resolved in courts located in the United States, and you consent to their jurisdiction.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above, and significant changes may be communicated through the Service. Your continued use of RankHall after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
