Silent War: In the Shadow of Atomic Bombs is a 2025 two-part documentary series by directors Dirk van den Berg and Pascal Verroust (OutreMer Film for ZDF). It is the English version of the German Im Schatten der Bombe – 80 Jahre Hiroshima. Eighty years after Hiroshima and Nagasaki, it examines renewed nuclear fears while focusing on the hidden human and environmental toll of more than 2,000 nuclear “tests.” These detonations devastated communities and left lasting radiation effects in places such as the Marshall Islands, Kazakhstan, and Nevada.
